Karen Holland of Kimberley, Ontario has broken the overall (men’s) record for the fastest time running the length of Ontario’s Bruce Trail. She began her run at 6 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 3 and finished the southbound journey from Tobermorey to Niagara on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 4:51 a.m. after eight days, 22 hours and 51 minutes on the trail – more than four hours faster than the fastest men’s time of 9:03:27, recorded just a couple of months ago by Kip Arlidge of Sundridge, ON. and more than three full days faster than the women’s FKT (fastest known time) set by Chantal Demers of Barrie, Ont. in 2017.

Holland, 34, is an accomplished runner having completed plenty of 100-mile runs and multi-day adventures. Her goal was to raise awareness of the Bruce Trail as well as finding out how much she could push her body and her mind. To cover the 900 km trail in under nine days means averaging more than 100 km a day for virtually nine straight days. Not all parts of the Bruce Trail are runnable so she had to power-hike some of the more difficult parts.

Karen has a link in her bio to support the Bruce Trail. If you are able, please support Karen’s goFundMe account –link in bio. https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/
