Elevation maps are detailed Toronto and Southern Ontario profiles based on satellite GPS tracking data. As such these profiles are highly accurate. They give you a cross-section of the terrain you will be hiking over compressed into a one page graph. Check out our tutorial on Understanding elevation Profiles

Satellite maps are detailed Toronto and Southern Ontario hiking maps based on satellite GPS tracking data provided by Google Earth. As such these maps are highly accurate and give you an idea of the terrain you will be hiking over. You can get even better views by looking at our Google Earth tutorial in conjunction with our track logs. Each map indicates a parking area (001) for your vehicle. Our regular trail maps in addition provide waypoint data and also point out special features along the hiking route,  such as lookouts and historical areas as well as noting the streams, rivers, and lakes along the trail. Track Logs are currently available for all new hikes plus upgraded hikes.
More track logs will be provided throughout the year as available.

Track log data is provided in GPX format and zipped for download ease
To use 1) unzip 2) Load into EasyGPS (free) or ExpertGPS and then upload to your Garmin, Magellan or Lowrance or other GPS.

Road Maps are now all converted to Google Maps. Click on the green hiker logo on the map to bring up the hiking window to get directions and driving time to the hike trailhead.

Regular Trail maps are named L01TM; new Topo Data Trail Maps combined are named *L01TM2
We will gradually redo all trail maps in the Topo Data Trail Maps format.

Topographic data trail maps have just become available to us. These make use of data and maps provided by the National Topographic Data Base (NTDB). The data shown includes power transmission lines, towers, and buried lines some of which can provide good markers for hikers. While road names are not yet part of the dataset, this information is being added manually. The maps provide full topographic contour lines, point elevations (m), areas of vegetation and wetland areas to provide you with much more info than our previous maps. We have also begun the process of colouring the main Bruce Trail in magenta colour in all new maps. All of the tracks shown on the maps are our own tracks obtained by hiking the trails ourselves. We will gradually convert all of our maps to the new NTDB maps.
